The most distinctive feature of exhibition space design is its strong sense of flow. This requires that the exhibition space be planned in the most rational way to guide visitors through the display, ensuring they engage with the exhibition completely and efficiently while minimizing backtracking—especially in key areas. Beyond functionality, the design should evoke a sense of spatial dynamism and infinite fascination.

Exhibition design must fulfill both the physical and emotional needs of people, which serves as the fundamental basis for spatial analysis. Visitors should experience the exhibition in a comfortable environment. If the space fails to create a psychologically warm and inviting atmosphere, even the most advanced display techniques will result in a cold, mechanical shell devoid of vitality. A truly human-centered exhibition space is one that is both "emotionally resonant" and "rationally structured."

Exhibits are the protagonists of the exhibition space, and the primary goal of spatial division is to present them in the most effective locations. Therefore, designers must integrate spatial considerations with the exhibition’s content, as different displays require corresponding forms and spatial arrangements. The positioning of exhibits should be prominent, granting them ample and striking space to enhance visual impact and leave a lasting impression on visitors.  

Throughout the spatial design process, the needs of the audience come first. Thus, safety must be a top priority in exhibition spaces. Additionally, the design should account for visitor circulation and provide convenient rest areas.
